Mya's First Weekend at Home

Brad and I were so excited to take Mya home with us on Friday! We spent the weekend getting settled in and watching Mya's every little movement and expression. Mya arrived in time to be here for her daddy's birthday which was Sunday, October 11. Brad said she was the best present ever!








Mya seemed to like her swing. She sleeps really well when we play the heartbeat sounds and the classical music.





We even took in a Cardinals game on tv. Mya was all ready to cheer them on in her Cardinals cap. This was a gift from her Grandpa Charlie. We watched game 3 against the Dodgers and sadly the Cards got swept. Don't worry Mya, we'll get'em next year!










Mya wrapped up in a towel after her first sponge bath at home. We'll try out the baby tub as soon as her little umbilical cord stump falls off.






This is Mya's sweet little bracelet that was a gift from her Daddy. It says "It's a Girl." I have one that matches Mya's.

Mya Jayne Hendrickson

Our baby girl, Mya Jayne, is here!

It all started last Tuesday. I went to my weekly doctor's appointment and there was not much change from the week before. I was at 39 weeks and I was dilated at about 1 1/2 cm. We decided to go ahead and set up an appointment for an induction on the 16th. I guess Mya had other plans because Brad and I were at home Tuesday night and I began having contractions around 9:45 pm. We were up the entire night waiting until they were close enough together to go to the hospital. Around 4:30 am Wednesday, we decided to get ready and head out. We took the dogs to Brad's mom's house and we were checking in at the hospital by 5:30 am. When they got me into the triage room I was between 3-4 cm dilated. They then took me to the labor and delivery room where the waiting began.



I got an epidural around 7:30 am and began to feel much better. When Dr. Krasnoff came by to check on me I was around 5 cm. Things were moving pretty slowly and they were guessing that I would be close to delivery somewhere between noon and two. So we were sure that my family would be able to make it in from Arkansas before things began. Brad's mom arrived and brought us a baby book for foot prints (I knew I would forget something). Then Mom, Toni and Savannah arrived a little after 11:00 am.

Well...noon passed by, two passed by and still nothing was happening. Later in the evening they had almost decided to induce when again Mya had her own plans. After Dr. Krasnoff checked me again, I was at 9 cm and things were moving along.

Brad did not leave my side from the time contractions started, and he was amazing helping me through the delivery. Of course you all know what a wonderful man Brad is. He has taken such great care of me throughout the entire pregnancy, as he has always done.

We were blessed with our little miracle at 8:03 pm on October 7, 2009. Mya weighed 8pounds 4 ounces and was 21 inches long. She was healthy and absolutely beautiful. Due to delivery, she has a fractured right clavicle. The pediatrician said that this is nothing to worry about. There is nothing we can do for it except be very careful with it. It has to heal on its own.

I can't even put into words how happy I was and how much I love Mya.

You can see Mya's beautiful long hair in this picture. We'll be able to wear it in a ponytail before long!

Mya does pretty well keeping her pacifier in. She will hold her little hand up to it so it doesn't fall out.

This is one of the quilts Aunt Toni made for Mya. I am so glad we brought such a warm quilt because it was so cold outside when we left the hospital.
